The Legend Of Henry VIII

Movie Info Sheet

Henry VIII, born in 1491, was thrust into the role of king after the sudden death of his older brother, Arthur. Initially a devout Catholic, Henry earned the title "Defender of the Faith" for opposing the Protestant Reformation. However, his desperate need for a male heir led him to break from the Catholic Church. After Pope Clement VII refused his annulment from Catherine of Aragon, Henry established the Church of England in 1534. His six marriages—two of which ended in execution—were driven by this obsession. Despite his efforts, only one of his children, Edward VI, survived, leaving Henry’s reign defined by love, death, and religious transformation.
