Princess Margaret And Antony Armstrong-Jones

Movie Info Sheet

After Princess Margaret's public decision not to marry Peter Townsend, she was frequently seen at royal events with various suitors. However, her most significant relationship—her secret romance with photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones—went largely unnoticed by the media. Antony, considered a "commoner," was not seen as a suitable match, and their engagement in 1960 surprised many. Despite their outwardly happy marriage, both Margaret and Antony had public love affairs, and the relationship eventually broke down in the 1970s.

Princess Margaret’s rebellious nature was encapsulated in her famous remark to Jean Cocteau, “Disobedience is my joy.” She lived life on her terms, balancing duty, desire, and public scrutiny. Margaret passed away in 2002, three days after the 50th anniversary of her father’s death.
