On the 8th of September 2022, Prince Charles’s life changed forever. With the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, the Prince of Wales became King Charles III. It was the moment he had spent his entire life preparing for, yet one he had long dreaded. As Buckingham Palace announced the Queen was under medical supervision, members of the royal family, including Charles and his sister Anne, rushed to Balmoral to be with her. Her death marked the end of the second Elizabethan era, and while the world mourned, Charles immediately assumed the role of king. There was no pause in the monarchy’s continuity; the King’s duties began without delay, following his mother’s example of steadfast service.
