“Whatever love is.” These words, spoken by Prince Charles when introducing Diana Spencer in 1981, would later come to symbolize the fragility of their marriage. At the time, they seemed like an innocent declaration, but in retrospect, they marked the beginning of a relationship doomed by uncertainty. As the firstborn son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Charles was destined to be king. With the world watching, he was under immense pressure to marry and produce heirs. By the age of 30, he was determined to do so, but his union with Diana, once seen as a fairy-tale romance, quickly unravelled under the weight of expectations, infidelity, and emotional strain.
